Our Story
Welcome to Sparket Mill, a 17c Watermill in a beautifully quiet area of The Lake District National Park. We are just off the A66 between Penrith and Keswick 2 1/2 miles from the shores of the incredible Ullswater. The mill is situated on Dacre Beck which flows through the garden which holds Salmon and Trout and we have the fishing rights to out section of the river. We are currently in the process of “rewilding” our small 13 acres and the first job we have done is plant 500 trees (for more details on the rewilding and nature head to the conservation tab). We are a family of 4 with 2 dogs, 4 cats, a pony and some chickens. We moved from Cheshire August 2021 and we haven’t looked back. We are 10/15 minutes to some big tourist areas like Pooley Bridge and we are the perfect location for Hiking there are some amazing spots such as Helvellyn, Blencathra and Skiddaw, however we are our own pocket of nature and its very quiet. We are home to Red Squirrels, Otters, Kingfishers and Dippers to name just a few. We are just a couple of miles from some amazing pubs like The Horse and Farrier, Dacre and The Boot and Shoe at Greystoke. We can arrange picnics, dinners and such like to be delivered to your accommodation and we even have a little private woodland glade where you can while away some quiet time (or maybe even a proposal). Mark is a Photographer and Kristin is an event planner so we are perfectly placed to help you celebrate any occasion. We really hope to meet you all soon.
